A depressed girl goes on vacation and this is how it goes...
I spent the last seven days in Jamaica as many of you already know. I went with my family ( there's five of us) and we stayed at Beaches Negril.
On Saturday February the 14th, I woke up at 5:30 because I decided the day would go take least 40% better if I had at least a little bit of makeup on (I find if I put the effort into my appearance I feel better that day). I had enforced that the family was to be in the car at 6:30am to go to the airport, as leaving on a Saturday is crazy busy at Pearson. Miraculously we were pulling out of the driveway at 6:30, and no one had forgotten anything. This is a rarity.
The airport was packed at check in. Luckily my mom checks in and prints boarding passes before we leave the house so we skip at least one line. Waiting in line is extremely difficult for me. I don't really have the stamina and I get lightheaded after about 3 minutes. The only real line we waited in was for security.
The plane ride was 3hrs 45mins and that is a looooong time for me. It's achey and uncomfortable and I can't really sleep on flights. But there were great island views from the window seat. The Montego Bay airport is crazy too, but if you pay a little extra you can fast track everything (less lines!). It wasn't until about 6:30 we got to the resort. We got dinner on the beach and went to bed. It was a long travel day.
I never really got a good sleep while in Jamaica... I woke up every 3 hours and was up by 7:30 every day. This meant a lot of naps.
Every morning was a breakfast buffet, with local fruit, fresh pastries and just about anything you could ask for.
Sunday was spent at the beach (like almost everyday), one of our two fabulous butlers would set us up on the beach with chairs and a cooler full of our favorite drinks. Dorrett and Carla made us feel like real royalty. We were set up In the shade which is good for me because the sun is exhausting and I'm so pale I roast like a turkey. My brothers enjoyed freedom: running to the pool, to the waterpark, then the Xbox lounge, giant chess set, shuffleboard and much much more. The butler would bring us lunch, which was usually pizza, Jamaican patties, jerk chicken, local fruit, fries and chocolate chip cookies. I would normally nap after lunch.
Dinner was at an amazing restaurant, with a performing chef cooking Japanese food at your table. I easily fell asleep by 9.
Monday we visited the school which I have posted about before. It was amazing.
The other days were similar to Sunday. A lot of relaxing. I got really frustrated I couldn't spend all day on the beach. I usually needed at least an hour nap.
We visited a tex-mex restaurant and an Italian restaurant several times. Yum.
Tuesday, my family went on a glass bottom boat ride and saw the reef. Fish kinda freak me out, but from the safety of the boat I thought it was cool.
Wednesday my mom and I had massages on the beach. My muscles are always sore.
Friday night we saw this amazing Steel Drum Orchestra. Look up the Silver Birds and see if they're on YouTube. So stellar. Then there was a chocolate buffet cocktail party. Yummy but also messy. It was all white night and I'm pretty sure my brothers ruined some shirts.
I'm writing this on the plane home. Hopefully the flight won't feel too long.
Wednesday I check in to Homewood. I'm nervous but excited to get better.
Thanks for reading, have a great day!
Dear Jessie, I know tomorrow is a big day for you and I am sending your brain many hugs and kisses. Wishing you all the best! XOXOXO
