Excavation
We have started excavation! They are long, tiring days and usually I can't get through the whole thing. But its fun and interesting to be digging in the dirt searching for history.
My group started out clearing 2 trenches near the castle. Moving sod and maddocking is extremely hard wor and really hard on the back. We spent 3 days clearing the topsoil so the next group could come in a find stuff. WHich was kind of frustrating but we still get to witness the progress of the trenches which is neat.
Today we moved to our second station which was clearing another trench. But this time it is up in the woods, where the soil is softer and easier to handle.
The first day I worked way too hard and had a hard time walking the second day. I spent the morning in bed and the afternoon sitting washing pottery that another group had found.
Today I had to take the afternoon off because I was so exhausted my vision was blurry. Im still learning how much to push myself and when to take a break.
My back is sore and I'm tired but it's the experience that counts. Hopefully my mark isnt suffering too badly due to my inability to get through the day.
Im having a hard time when looking at the future. Im not sure if Im ready to go back to university... Ive been having a hard time in class here and I dont know if I could handle going back. Im not really thrilled with my major and want to switch, but I do not really have the grades to switch to what I would like to. RIght now my future is up in the air. Which is really scary, not knowing where to go or what to do.
Im also really homesick. I miss my cat and my dog and my mom. Dealing with this illness on my own in a dfferent country is hard, especially when there are grades on the line.
Im halfway through my program here, 3 weeks to go
Thank you for your support and for still reading even when I take weeks to post <3
