Okay, so maybe it's not fibro...

About a month ago I was tested for lyme here in Ontario.  The results were negative but we knew they would be because this test has a very high false negative rate.  My mom wanted to do the American testing as it is more thorough, so we had my fibro specialist draw blood and sent it off to California to be tested by Igenex.  These tests were $500, which is crazy.  I am so thankful for Canadian health care.

Yesterday, several weeks after sending the blood off, we got the bill.  Which means the tests had been run.  My mom called my fibro doctor to ask if they had the results and when we could see her to get them.  The doctor told her the results were positive but could not see us until November as she was all booked up.  Luckily she had a cancellation today and I'll be in to see her next week.

We don't know how long I've had it, or what the next step is, but I know many people go untreated for years and the disease gets scary.  Hopefully we've caught it soon enough that my quality of life can be improved.

I'm pretty scared right now, I'm not sure what to do or how to feel.  Hopefully this new diagnosis is good; as we get closer and closer to the root of the problem, maybe it gets easier and easier to fix.

    Hang in there kiddo. You don't know me, but I know your mom and I know 8 people now with lyme disease even though it "doesn't exist" in southern Ontario. You have an awesome mom who advocates/advocated for you, and a test result which could explain an awful lot of your symptoms, even your issue with depression perhaps. I look forward to hearing about your eventual improvement since you now have a diagnosis.... especially after all the "crap" that you've been through already in your young life. So, like I said, hang in there. And know that people who don't even know you personally care about you. :) sincerely, Lynnette Vella

Thoughts Pre-Bell Let's Talk 2020

I haven’t blogged in a while, but this felt like the best platform for this stream of consciousness. Since last Bell Let’s Talk, I have discovered I had borderline personality disorder, gained some control over my disorder, and became the student I knew I could be at college. Borderline personality disorder makes sense to me; the more I learn about the disorder, the more I learn about myself and about the path to success that works for me. Suicide

I could very much be jinxing myself right now. But I figured, if its been a long enough time that I cannot remember what website my blog is on, I should probably update you lovely, caring people. I seem to be coming down from a suicidal episode. Unless its just the weed and once I am sober I will be back on the floor crying. But for now, I seem to be coming back into the world of the living; I showered, brushed my teeth and did the dishes. I know that seems like a basic day, not even an 8th of the chores someone should do daily, but for me (or many people with depression), that is an amazing achievement. Since Thursday evening I have been crying on and off (more on than off) for hours and hours. I have cried in every room in my apartment (including sitting the shower, with the water on) and I got to cry at school in front of all my peers.
